In addition to the highly moving production inside the Kirk Douglas Theatre, there's an equally compelling installation art piece in the lobby that is not to be missed.
"The Freshmen AVPA Visual Art students collaboration has been a profound and moving experience to witness," said Center Theatre Group Teaching Artist Zachary Bones, who mentored the students. "After attending the first read-through of the production, these students had a lot to say about their thoughts and feelings around the topics and themes of this play. Their goal was to create something challenging and evocative that forces the viewer to confront the idea of 'what lies just under the surface of our community that is ever present but unseen until it erupts into a tragedy.' With some clever planning and creative design sessions, they created not just a beautiful work of art to look at, but a changing installation that contributes to the whole experience of going to the theater to see this play. Lead by a team of four students: Serena Fisch, Zoey Doss, Sei Akiyoshi, and Lizzet Olivero, these freshmen have worked hard to create a piece we hope will put you into the world of this play, Laramie Wyome, and show you all its facets every time you step into the lobby.
